Once again, money further distances an already broken relationship in rock n roll. McCartney sued the Beatles in order dissolve Apple Corps in the 1970s. One example of many. Now, reports tell that ex-Wilco multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett is suing Jeff Tweedy over unpaid songwriting royalties. While typical conversations around Wilco’s official fan forum play with ideas of a Bennett/Tweedy reunion, this may be the nail in the coffin burning yet another bridge in the history of Tweedy’s ranks.
Bennett’s MySpace post only referred to his need of money for a hip replacement surgery, but multiple other sources including the Chicago Tribune cite Bennett’s request for retribution.
